Report: Vaccines not Responsible for Autism or Diabetes. . .

Chances are you’ve heard the buzz about childhood vaccines and a rise in autism and diabetes diagnoses. Fearful that vaccines might be more harmful than helpful, many parents have chosen not to have their children vaccinated against infectious diseases like measles, whooping cough, and polio. But experts at the Institute of Medicine (IOM) warn this decision could be dangerous. They say no substantive research has proven that vaccines cause autism or other disorders, and when lots of parents choose not to have their children immunized, diseases that were under control tend to break out again. While some vaccines can cause side effects like temporary fever or aches, the effects are minor and rare, and according to the IOM, not compelling reasons to avoid immunization.
